A broad-leaf Dracaena with a pop of feel-good colour. The lush green leaves are bordered by a striking yellow margin, ideal for combining with the yellow borders of a Sansevieria trifasciata Laurentii for a totally tropical indoor vibe.
The branched version combines stems to produce a dense bushy style. It is a tough and resilient specimen and will tolerate some shade as well as helping to clean the air of toxins.
Dracaena fragrans Golden Coast Care & Info Guide
Horty Hints
Beware the Blotching! Yellow and brown blotches on the broad leaves? The plant has been too dry and hot. Refresh regularly and relocate somewhere more humid.
Tame the tipping! Blackening of leaf tips and leaf edges is a sign that the plant has had too much water. Allow to dry out in-between waterings.
Wipe leaves with a damp cloth to remove accumulated dust. Avoid using leaf shine on these plants.
Light
Dracaena fragrans Golden Coast prefers medium to bright light but can tolerate lower light levels. Avoid direct sunlight as this may burn or bleach the leaves.
Watering
Water when the soil starts to dry-out at the top, water well and allow to drain thoroughly. Relatively drought tolerant. Do not overwater as this will cause the leaf tips to blacken.
Temperature
Golden Coast does best in average household temperatures: between 16-24°C, but can cope with as low as 12°C for short periods.
Humidity
Dracaena are hardy houseplants and will do well in normal room humidity, however they do prefer higher humidity and will benefit from occasional misting.
Feed
Apply a weak dose of a fertiliser once or twice a month during the growing season.
